ABOUT LISA

Lisa moved down to Austin after graduating from MIT in 1999.  She started  running several years ago, completing her first marathon in February of 2005, and will soon start training for her second one this winter!  After returning from the honeymoon, she started a new job at Blue Fish Development Group.

ABOUT BRYANT

After getting his BA and MA in Communications and Rhetoric from UVA in 1994, Bryant moved down to Austin to pursue his PHD from UT Austin. Bryant completed his dissertation titled Missing in America: Homelessness During the Reagan Revolution in 2001 and is currently working at Southwestern University as the Associate Director of Media and Public Relations.

HOW WE MET

We were both out on the town at a local bar, Red Fez. Lisa was hanging out with a friend and noticed a cute boy sitting up at the bar, apparently alone. As Lisa and her friend were about to head out for the night, she strategically went up to where Bryant was sitting under the pretense of "closing out her tab".  Bryant instantly struck up a conversation and bought Lisa a drink or two.  They exchanged phone numbers, and many hours of conversation later, Bryant finally asked Lisa out for their first date on August 10th, 2003.

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

August 7, 2004

HOW IT HAPPENED

We were at home, and Lisa was upstairs cutting tags off of some clothes she had bought in honor of the Texas tax free holiday. Pace came running up to her and Bryant yelled, "I think Pace has something for you!". Tucked in his collar was a scroll of paper with a ribbon tied around it. He had written on it a beautiful poem, the last line of which read "Lisa, will you marry me?"  Lisa walked out of their bedroom and he was out on the landing down on one knee, and he asked again. Lisa ran up to him and hugged and kissed him and said "Yes, of course I will marry you".
